Radiesse™ used to be called Radiance, and it’s an injectable implant made from tiny calcium globules in a biocompatible gel. It effectively supplements our own supply of collagen, which tends to decline as we age. Reinforcing our collagen helps to smooth out any lines or wrinkles, and many scars. Radiesse is not absorbed by the body, as collagen is.

Radiesse™ is best for:

  • Lip enhancement
  • Naso-labial folds (running down from nose to mouth on each side)
  • Many scars
  • Lines and wrinkles around the lips

The procedure

  • Treatments take about 15 minutes
  • Local anesthetic is first given
  • Radiesse™ is injected through a tiny needle, into a wrinkle and just under the skin
  • Results are immediate, so you can decide on the spot if more is needed

After the procedure

  • You’ll notice smoother scars, plumper lips, smaller wrinkles
  • You can be up and back to normal activities at once
  • If there’s any discomfort at all, a medication can easily control it
  • For a day or so you might have a little swelling
  • There may be a small bit of bruising which you can cover with make-up

Your Radiesse™ treatment will last for many months, even more than a year, though you might want a few touch-up treatments. It will remain soft and pliable for a year or more.
