Restylane® is made from hyaluronic acid, as are many products for the skin. Hyaluronic acid occurs in all living creatures and it’s a natural part of skin. Restylane® is made from a non-animal form of hyaluronic acid, and is biocompatible with our human hyaluronic acid.

Restylane® works against wrinkles by adding volume to the tissue, and because it exists naturally in humans and all animals, allergic reactions seldom happen.

The FDA has approved it for plumping out wrinkles around the nose and mouth areas.

Restylane® used for scar treatments

Since it has a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid than some other products derived from that acid, it’s effective in treating scars, and in lip augmentation.

Restylane® Procedure

  • For a few days beforehand, avoid using aspirin or Vitamin E, as they can increase bruising
  • Dr. Fante will offer you a light local anesthetic
  • The injections themselves take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or so
  • Very small amounts of Restylane® are injected into several locations with a very fine needle

Great results

You’ll be able to see the results almost right away.

  • There may be a little swelling or redness that will disappear within 2 to 3 days
  • You’ll see a fresh plumpness in the area, giving you a more youthful look
  • Results last anywhere from 6 months to a year in some cases
