Reynald

Westminster, Colorado

Originally from France, Reynald has called Colorado home since graduating from Colorado State University with an MBA in 1995. He and his wife Eve have an 18-month old son. Reynald comments, “Luka is such a happy little guy and he and I seem to connect more and more every day. I think being away from him for almost three weeks will be the hardest part of the climb.”

Reynald has enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities: he climbed his first fourteener (Longs Peak) in 1996 and has climbed 40 of them since. He later participated in a number of mountain bike races, including the "24 Hours of Moab” and “Vail Ultra 100.” He joined the Colorado Mountain Club in 1999 to hone his mountaineering skills. Reynald climbed Kilimanjaro with his wife in October 2000 and completed the 50-mile Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim hike in May 2001. Reynald went on to climb Mount Rainier near Seattle and Mont Blanc in the French Alps within a 7-day period in July 2002. In 2003, Reynald trained for and completed the 760-mile/1,225-km Paris-Brest-Paris in just over 3 days (this bike race had its beginnings 112 years ago and takes place every 4 years in France). Reynald says, “Climbing Mount McKinley is a dream come true and I am excited about attempting this beautiful route that is challenging and off the beaten path. We hope to have a great time and give the summit our best shot, but safety will remain our primary concern.”

Reynald recently gave a well-received slide show and presentation at Denver's REI Flagship store on the 2003 Paris-Brest-Paris.
