Denver, Colorado
I joined the Denali expedition team in the early stages of planning - July 2003. After several months of planning, training and anticipation, I developed back, hip and leg pain. My doctor sent me for an MRI and it showed that I had a herniated lumbar disc and another disc that was bulging. I had surgery in late March and had to drop out of the expedition. I cannot tell you how devastated I was.
However, my excitement for the expedition and my former teammates could not be subdued. I started building this informational website for the expedition prior to my surgery and continue to add to it as the team continues to train.
Now considered an honorary RibCo '04 team member, I am the webmaster and occasionally throw in my two cents about expedition planning.
I've been interested in mountaineering for many years and have climbed 21 of the Colorado 14ers (a few of them twice) and climbed two routes on Mount Rainier in Washington (2000 & 2003). I have been a member of the Colorado Mountain Club since 1997 and a CMC Trip Leader since 1998.
I'd like to thank the guys of RibCo '04 for letting me continue to work with the team and I wish them the best of luck and success on this spectacular adventure.
